  • Marina del Rey for All (MdR for All) is a community-based effort, led by LA County District 2 Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell and the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches & Harbors, along with other County partners, to reimagine Marina del Rey to make it more inclusive, equitable and accessible. In July of 2022, the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution calling for a long -term plan for the redevelopment of MdR with a focus on equity, inclusivity, and accessibility. This means planning for future development in MdR that welcomes all County residents and visitors, with an increased focus on community-serving amenities and youth-serving programming, as well as sustainable and equitable development and business practices.

  • The first step of the MdR for All initiative is gathering feedback community members and other stakeholders. These ongoing efforts ensure that we present development scenarios and options that take into account the ideas and suggestions provided by the community.

Once we've gathered these ideas and suggestions, we will we will create different scenarios taking into account the feedback we received in the first phase of the process. We will conduct a broad analysis that incorporates community input as well as aa review of costs and physical and technical constraints.

As part of this phase of program development, we will continue to provide opportunities for the community to weigh in on the emerging development plans. Finally, before implementing any comprehensive changes, we will introduce a final “Specific Plan” that incorporates analyses to ensure that the plan is sensitive to the potential impacts on the environment and legal requirements for environmental protection.

  • The community and stakeholder engagement portion of this initiative aims to involve a diverse spectrum of LA County residents in the decision-making regarding the future of Marina del Rey.

To ensure broad participation, we will be present at various events organized by the Department of Beaches and Harbors (DBH), Supervisor Mitchell’s office and our partners across the County. These events will provide us with an opportunity to engage directly with the community and gather valuable insights. In addition to being present at events, we will reach out to key community groups to ensure that their voices are heard and their perspectives are taken into account. We recognize the importance of inclusivity and diversity in shaping the future of Marina del Rey.

To further expand our outreach and offer opportunities for stakeholder feedback, we have launched a broad-based survey. This survey will be designed to solicit feedback not only from existing Marina users but also from individuals who may be less familiar with the Marina.

We believe it is crucial to capture a wide range of opinions and perspectives to ensure that the project reflects the needs and desires of the entire community.
